You want to give, but how do you get started on giving grants?  In this section, we hope to provide some helpful tools to aid you in the grantmaking process.  Our intention is to suggest rather than proscribe, so depending on your situation, some tools might be more helpful than others.
 
This document outlines the basic steps you need to take to start your grantmaking.
 
When you first start giving grants, one of the difficult pieces to figure out is the approval letter. Because it is a legal document, you want to make sure you incorporate all the appropriate information.  We hope the following wording may be helpful to you as you begin the process.
 
Because you will not be able to grant every request that comes your way, writing declination letters are a vital part of the grantmaking process.

While not necessarily classic due diligence questions, these are some tips specifically meant to maximize the time on the field. Due diligence questions can certainly be asked, and should be, but often those can be covered without a visit to a headquarters or ministry location.
