No, you must have an electronic version. Most major office supply stores offer a scanning service if you do not own a scanner.

Yes. If you wish to have multiple users who can access the same portal account, please email us at support@maclellan.net and someone will get back to you.
I am receiving an error message when I try to save my Letter of Inquiry or Grant Request
You may have received an error message if any of the required fields have not been filled out correctly. Please enter the required data in the appropriate field and in the correct format. If the problem persists, please email a screen shot or the text of the error message you are receiving, along with any other relevant information to support@maclellan.net and someone will get back to you.

What if my project spans more than one country?
If your project is in more than one country then you need to submit a Letter of Inquiry for each country where your project will be conducted.
Can I submit a Letter of Inquiry for more than one project?
No. You must submit a LOI for each project.
What is a fiscal sponsor?
A fiscal sponsor is a public charity seeking funds for a project compatible with its own mission but implemented by an organization without a public charity status with the IRS. What is a parent organization?
A parent organization holds ownership over other (subsidiary) entities (or chapters). Or an entity (subsidiary organization) is under the common control or ownership of a parent group. A parent may either list its subsidiary(ies) as part of their group exemption (on their IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter) or simply recognize the entity as a chapter under its main organization.
What is a subsidiary organization?
A subsidiary organization does not have an IRS determination letter in its own name but will either (1) be named as part of a group exemption on another organization's IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter or (2) will be recognized as a chapter of another organization who has its own IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter.
Is there a way to view the Letter of Inquiry and Grant Request before submitting one?
In our Letter of Inquiry, we ask for an executive summary, and on a Grant Request, we ask for additional information. They can be viewed here.
What are Project Benchmarks/Outcomes?
Benchmarks/Outcomes are measurable changes or improvements in your target population in relation to behavior, attitudes, knowledge, or skills.
How do I upload attachments?
To upload attachments, click on the “Browse” button and select the document you want to upload. Then click on the “Upload” button and the file name of your attached document will appear above. If you chose the wrong document to attach, you can click “Delete” and browse for a new document.

May I submit further information regarding our proposal in addition to the information asked on the Letter of Inquiry or Grant Request?
No. We ask that you refrain from submitting additional information by fax, email or regular mail as we have designed our LOI and Grant Request to provide us with all the information necessary to make a decision about your proposal.
How will I know if my Letter of Inquiry or Grant Request has been submitted and received?
After logging into your account, you can view the status of your LOIs and Grant Requests on your Dashboard. If your LOI and Grant Request have been submitted, they will only have a ‘View’ option. If they have not been submitted then a ‘View’ and ‘Edit’ options will be available. You will also receive a confirmation email each time a Letter of Inquiry and Grant Request is submitted and received.
Can I edit my Letter of Inquiry or Grant Request after they have been submitted?
At this time, LOIs will not be made available to edit after submission. Grant Requests will be reopened for edits on a case-by-case basis if a Maclellan Foundation, Inc. staff member deems it necessary and instructions on how to make edits will be emailed to the Grant Request primary contact.
Is this site secure? Who else can obtain my information?
All information submitted is confidential, encrypted, and secure. It will not be shared with any other organization or individual without your previously written permission.
What is a fiscal agent?
A fiscal agent is an organization that serves as an intermediary or "conduit" for funding for another organization or project and does not accept the legal responsibilities of a fiscal sponsor. We will not accept grant requests from fiscal agents. Further information on the difference between fiscal agents and fiscal sponsors is available on the Council on Foundations website.
